Context
The client is a Business Process Outsourcer that supports a large number of businesses in their services through carrying out their business processes. In order to be able to realize this, the client keeps an extensive supporting software system operational. The clients of the Business Process Outsourcer submit different modification requests, which have an impact on the systems. These are sometimes included in releases but more extensive requests lead to projects. In this context, the client needs to be able to follow different modification requests in releases and projects in terms of size, time and money.
Approach
The client set up its version management in such a way that it is possible to deliver all the source code per release and per project. This makes it possible to use Source2VALUE to reproduce the maintenance function points (OFP) thus creating a transparent overview of the work that has actually been done. The client also has good insight into the time spent on the releases and different projects.
Result
By combining the time, money and work carried out, the client has a transparent overview of the efficient of its software development and maintenance. In addition, this aspect is also monitored over the course of time, which means that attention to this area has become a fixed part of the client’s own improvement cycle.
